The Eye of the Storm...

Right now as I write this, my husband, his parents, and my sister-in-law and children are battling 55+mph winds in Baton Rouge, LA.  I’ve been told that the power is out and that our penthouse apartment on the 7th floor of our concrete building is taking on water from the combination of winds and rain.  My folks on the MS coast are fine, a little wind and rain, but otherwise safe and dry.  They have power and phones.  My children and I are safe and sound in the Jackson, MS area where the weather is a little spotty rain and a strong breeze.   I know there are others that are weathering this storm having battened down the hatches and hidden themselves inside a solid shelter.  Although, I am safe and my family is dealing with some crazy stuff right now, I am at peace.  I know that God has a plan for this day, for this storm!  I know that He is still on the throne and that my things can always be replaced.   Yes, there are family mementos that I’d like to hang on to, but if the water takes them, I know that the 3 most precious things I have are right here with me out of harm’s way!  I also know that my family that is facing the harsh winds of the storm are also protected by God’s mighty hand!  They are uncomfortable and may be for some time to come, but they are safe.   And so, I ask for continued prayer for those enduring this hurricane, for those who have loved ones that stayed behind to watch over property and volunteer to help others in need, and for those who have sought safety in the arms of family and friends elsewhere!  I believe that nothing happens by coincidence, but rather that there is a reason for everything, even though we might not always know what that reason is.  But I do know that God cares for us, that he protects us and that he calls us to reach out to one another and be a support in times of trouble.  Whatever your circumstances are right now, Gustav or a death in the family or just the wear and tear of life, please know that you are not alone and that there is peace, hope, and even joy to be had in your future!  Let’s talk if you want to know more…angie@angieewing.com!  Blessings~ang
